What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to the Tenant, another occupant, or someone the Tenant permitted, wilfully or negligently causing damage to the premises, including pulling up the carpet on the stairs and damaging the brick walls.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $639.80 for the cost of replacing the damaged carpet and $186 for the application filing fees, for a total of $825.80. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by June 16, 2024, they will start owing interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
