What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective February 28, 2022. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $1,530.97 for use of the unit from December 1, 2021 to January 26, 2022, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenants must also pay $59.18 per day for use of the unit from January 27, 2022 until they move out, as well as the $186 application filing fee. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 28, 2022, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance starting March 1, 2022.
