What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation by his son. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective October 31, 2021. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $7,783.16 in compensation for use of the unit from December 1, 2020 to August 23, 2021, plus $29.26 per day from August 24, 2021 until they vacate. If the full amount is not paid by September 3, 2021, interest will accrue at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
