What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The ruling

The Board found that the Landlords breached their maintenance obligations under section 20(1) of the Residential Tenancies Act. The Tenant was awarded a total rent abatement of $2,978.61 for various maintenance issues. The Landlords were ordered to repair the kitchen faucet by February 28, 2023. If the Landlords fail to pay the awarded amount by February 27, 2023, the Tenant may deduct it from future rent payments.
