What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Landlord also applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant because the Tenant, another occupant of the rental unit or a person the Tenant permitted in the residential complex has seriously impaired the safety of any person.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated as of January 5, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $1,950.41, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to January 5, 2020, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by September 21, 2020, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest calculated at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
