What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Landlords require possession of the rental unit for their own residential occupation. The Tenants disputed the Landlords' alleged intentions, believing the Landlords' true intention was to renovate and re-rent the unit at a higher amount.

The ruling

The Landlord's application was dismissed. The Tenant was ordered to pay back the compensation paid by the Landlord, and the Tenant's obligation to pay June 2021 rent was reinstated.
