What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The issues raised by the Tenant include floods/water seepage and leaking, loud furnace, washroom fan, and window frame.
The ruling
The Landlords are ordered to pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $1,140 for the flooding/water seepage and leaking issues, and to repair or replace the window to eliminate the gap between the screen and frame by August 30, 2021. The Landlords are also ordered to pay the Tenant $45 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount the Landlords owe the Tenant is $1,185, which must be paid by June 30, 2021.
