What happened

Tenants filed T6 and T2 applications alleging the Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations and substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit. The main issues were cockroaches and bedbugs in the unit.

The ruling

The Tenants' application was dismissed. The Board found that while bedbugs were present in the unit, the Landlord took reasonable steps to address the issue. The Tenants' failure to properly prepare the unit for treatment and refusal of entry on some occasions frustrated the Landlord's efforts to resolve the problem.
