What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant, another occupant, or someone Tenant permitted in the residential complex wilfully or negligently causing undue damage to the premises. Landlord also applied for an order requiring Tenant to compensate Landlord for the damage.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $587.60 for the reasonable costs of repairing the damage caused by the toilet blockage, and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 30, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
