What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants raised issues about the Landlord giving them a notice of termination for purchaser's own use and failing to pay them compensation, as well as allegations of harassment by the Landlord.

The ruling

The Tenants were ordered to pay the Landlord $11,798.17, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to November 30, 2020, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit and less the amount of the compensation the Landlord owes the Tenants. The Tenants were also ordered to pay the Landlord $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by June 29, 2021, they will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
