What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay compensation for damages caused by Tenant or a person Tenant permitted in the residential complex. Landlord also claimed compensation for each day Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated as of December 1, 2020, the day the Tenant provided vacant possession of the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $645.00 for the reasonable costs of repairing the damage and replacing the damaged property, $57.92 per day for compensation for the use of the unit from November 30, 2020 to the move-out date, and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 29, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
