What happened

Landlord applied for an order to increase the rent charged by more than the guideline due to an extraordinary increase in municipal taxes and charges. The application was resolved by written hearing, and the Board determined that the Landlord justified the rent increase above the guideline.

The ruling

The Landlord may increase the rents charged by 0.90% for the units set out in Schedule 1, within the time period of February 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. The portion of the Landlord's application seeking an above-guideline rent increase due to an extraordinary increase in municipal taxes and charges to take effect during the period January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2021, is dismissed.
