What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective August 30, 2021, due to rent arrears from July 1, 2021, to January 31, 2022.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 28, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $7,116.45 on or before that date. The Tenant must pay $6,511.80 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 17, 2022, plus $32.49 per day from January 18, 2022, until move-out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing cost. If the unit is not vacated by January 28, 2022, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement.
