What happened
Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to the Tenants, another occupant, or someone the Tenants permitted in the residential complex: substantially interfering with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another tenant; wilfully or negligently causing damage to the premises; committing an illegal act or carrying out, or permitting someone to carry out an illegal trade, business or occupation in the rental unit or the residential complex; seriously impairing the safety of any person in the residential complex; and wilfully causing undue damage to the premises.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective February 27, 2023. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $7,910.96, which includes compensation for use of the unit, replacement of stolen property, and the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 27, 2023, they will owe interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
