What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. Landlord also applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated as of January 19, 2020. The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $11,167.72, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to January 19, 2020, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount owing under this order is $11,357.72. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before February 23, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest.
