What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlords gave a notice of termination in bad faith. The Tenant testified that he moved out of the rental unit because the Landlord gave him a notice of termination claiming the father of one of the Landlords required possession of the rental unit, and that this notice was given in bad faith.
The ruling
The Tenant's application was granted. The Landlord was ordered to pay the Tenant $1,100 in compensation for moving and $50 for the application filing fee, for a total of $1,150. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by November 20, 2021, the Tenant will be owed interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
