What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants for personal use of the rental unit. The Landlord claimed he required possession of the unit for residential occupation for at least one year. The Tenants contested the application, citing concerns about bad faith and difficulty finding a new rental unit.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective April 30, 2023. The Tenants must pay $4,721.94 to the Landlord for compensation of unit use from May 1, 2022 to September 6, 2022. Additional compensation of $36.99 per day is owed from September 7, 2022 until the Tenants move out. The eviction is delayed to allow Tenants more time to find a new rental unit.
