What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The Tenants also applied for a rent reduction due to a reduction or discontinuance in services or facilities.

The ruling

The order is varied to correct the amount of the monthly rent and the abatement awarded to the Tenant. The Tenant is entitled to a 25% abatement based on the correct monthly rent amounts, up to a maximum of $1,600 as claimed, plus an additional $660.96 for the period after the application was filed. The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant the full amount of $2,935.96 by April 21, 2018, or interest will accrue.
