What happened
Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant, another occupant, or someone the Tenant permitted, wilfully or negligently causing undue damage to the rental unit. The Landlord also sought compensation for the damage and for the Tenant's continued occupancy after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 31, 2022. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $1,650 for repair costs and $8,984.94 for compensation for use of the unit from August 13, 2021 to January 4, 2022, less the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant must also pay $78.90 per day from January 5, 2022 until the Tenant vacates the unit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 15, 2022, interest will accrue.
