What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Landlord also applied for an order that the Tenant had abandoned the rental unit.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated as of August 15, 2020, the date the Tenant gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlord. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $5,994.40, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to August 15, 2020, as well as $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by December 7, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
