What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant's alleged illegal act of removing and disabling the unit smoke detectors, which seriously impaired the safety of other occupants in the residential complex.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective October 31, 2021. The Landlord was granted expedited enforcement of the order, and the Sheriff was directed to give vacant possession of the unit to the Landlord on or after November 1, 2021. The Landlord's $1,400 rent deposit was to be applied to the last month of the tenancy.
