What happened
Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant or a guest of the Tenant seriously impairing the safety of others in the building, committing an illegal act, and substantially interfering with the reasonable enjoyment of the Landlord or other tenants. The Landlord alleged that there was a fire in the Tenant's unit caused by the Tenant's guest, and that the smoke alarm was missing and the unit door did not latch properly.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 6, 2022. The Tenant must move out by that date and pay the Landlord $4.57 per day for use of the unit after that date, as well as $175 for the application filing fee.
