What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after serving a notice of termination, but the notice was found to be invalid because it included amounts unrelated to rent. The Landlord requested an order for payment of arrears instead.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $8,200 in rent arrears and $190 for the application filing fee. If the full amount is not paid by December 29, 2020, the Tenant will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
