What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from May 1, 2021 to August 31, 2021. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on August 27, 2021.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of August 27, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $9,114.00, which represents the rent owing less the last month's rent deposit up to August 31, 2021. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application and $60.00 for NSF charges. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by November 21, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
