What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from September 1, 2020, to January 31, 2022. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective September 7, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 28, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $2,797.70 on or before that date. The Tenant must pay $1,669.04 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 17, 2022, plus $21.36 per day starting January 18, 2022, until they move out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay or move out by January 28, 2022, the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff for eviction enforcement.
