What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant paid the full amount of arrears claimed before the hearing, but still owed a portion of the filing fee. The Landlord sought only to collect the balance of the filing fee and did not pursue eviction.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $162.57, which is the balance owing on the filing fee. No eviction order was issued as the Tenant had paid the rent arrears in full before the hearing. If the Tenant does not pay by November 27, 2022, interest will start accruing at 4.00% annually from November 28, 2022.
