What happened

Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant or an occupant of the Tenant's unit using an electrical cord to tap into the Landlord's electricity in the common areas of the residential complex, which substantially interferes with the Landlord's and other tenants' lawful rights and interests.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective September 5, 2016. The Tenant must move out of the rental unit on or before September 5, 2016. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $1,424.00, which represents compensation for the use of the unit from June 13, 2016 to August 25, 2016, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $32.73 per day for compensation for the use of the unit from August 26, 2016 to the date the Tenant moves out of the unit, and $170.00 for the cost of filing the application.
