What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant's failure to properly prepare the rental unit for pest control treatments, resulting in a persistent cockroach infestation. The Landlord also alleged the Tenant caused a fire in the unit.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective October 29, 2023. The Tenant must vacate the unit by this date or the Landlord can file the order with the Sheriff to enforce the eviction. The Tenant owes the Landlord $1,640.77, which includes compensation for use of the unit, the application filing fee, and the balance of the rent deposit and interest. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 29, 2023, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
