What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Landlord intends to do major repairs or renovations to the rental unit. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective March 31, 2022. The Tenant must move out by that date and pay the Landlord $5,321.28 in compensation for use of the unit from June 1, 2021 to March 3, 2022, plus $19.28 per day from March 4, 2022 until the Tenant moves out. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by March 31, 2022, the Tenant will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
