What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another tenant, and for wilfully or negligently causing damage to the premises. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The Landlord has proven the grounds for termination of the tenancy and the claim for compensation. The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenants must move out by August 26, 2024. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $9,101.38, which includes rent arrears, cleanup costs, and the application filing fee, minus the rent deposit and interest.
